In the Community
Through our Public Affairs programs, AAA Northern New England promotes the Lifelong Safe Mobility philosophy to make our streets and highways safer. By partnering with law enforcement, schools, safety advocates, legislators and private industry, AAA strives to serve and keep its members and the general public informed on all important issues.
Our public affairs program includes participation in transportation safety groups, among them, the Maine Transportation Safety Coalition (MTSC), The New Hampshire Older Driver Coalition (NHDOC), Maine Strategic Highway Safety Planning and Maine Driver Education Association (MEDEA).
In the Community
• AAA is proud to serve as the "go-to" source on fuel prices for members, the traveling public and media. For more than 30 years, AAA has provided the best available fuel price data, charting price fluctuations through international crises, natural disasters and national emergencies.
• The AAA Schools Open, Halloween Safety & Bicycle Safety Posters and printed information are provided at no cost to towns & cities throughout Northern New England.These national campaigns are designed to bring awareness to the motoring public during especially dangerous times.
• The Ford/AAA Auto Skills Competition. Co-sponsored by AAA and Ford Motor Company, is an annual competition which awards millions of dollars in scholarships and prizes to high-school students interested in pursuing a career in automotive repair.
• The Junior Achievement Program
• Drivewell and Carfit programs provide older drivers with helpful tips on driving.
• The Teen Driver Initiative, a partnership with the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, provides school and community groups with no cost programs on teen driving, including Dare to Prepare and parent involvement programs for teens and their parents.
• AAA Great Battery Roundup collects thousands of used batteries for recycling each year.
