Transportation: AAA's Commitment to Mobility and Safety

The next federal transportation reauthorization cycle will present significant challenges as many believe the entire structure of funding transportation must be reviewed.  New thinking regarding the approach to financing the nation’s surface transportation program will be necessary.  The role of the federal and state governments, the mission of the program, and new concepts for long-term funding will all be addressed.  To ensure that the interests of motorists are considered during this debate, AAA must begin working now to analyze alternatives and develop consensus on association positions.
In an effort to further educate AAA members on the importance of transportation and the future funding and policy challenges we face, AAA has provided a number of resources below. The purpose of this section is not to outline AAA’s positions on any particular transportation infrastructure issue or funding alternative, but simply to raise awareness of the ongoing debate and describe the various transportation challenges ahead.
